Toby Mallinder MRICS, PQS
Toby heads our Cost Management Group for all project delivery models and takes the lead in national Public-Private Partnership (P3) and social infrastructure projects.
He brings BTY Group clients more than two decades of Cost and Project Management experience gleaned from a wide range of international ventures, including large-scale health care, advanced education, and transportation projects. In addition to special expertise in Independent Certification and Project Monitoring services for P3 projects, Toby has extensive experience in the economics of sustainable design and construction.
In his spare time, Toby uses his years of experience on the rugby pitch to serve as a coach for the next generation of aspiring rugby superstars

Gord Smith PQS(F), A.Sc.T., LEED AP, MRICS
With more than 25 years of experience working in a monitoring capacity on development financing, Gord leads our Technical Advisory team for Public-Private Partnerships (P3s).
His areas of expertise are Post-Financial Close Independent Certification and Lenders’ Technical Advisor services on P3s, Green Building Design, and Value Analysis. Gord has worked on more than 1,000 projects of nearly every type and with nearly every major lender.
He is confident that he’ll have permission to build his own workshop after he completes the next home renovation, as long it doesn’t interfere with his girls’ soccer coaching duties.

Neill leads our Special Services Group that integrates research, analytic and information management to support BTY Group’s service innovation.

Although it has been several years since Neill’s latest unintended dismount from one of the horses in the family stable, he has yet to be thrown by the family donkey.

Mark Ravelle PQS, MRICS, CET
Mark brings more than three decades of construction industry experience to directing Cost Planning and Cost Control services on large-scale projects in Central Canada.
Mark is particularly skilled at coordinating all specialist disciplines, including architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical works. With BTY Group since 1982, he developed the proprietary software applications that drive the speed and accuracy of BTY Group’s services, and also provides much of the firm’s expert witness testimony and forensic cost reviews.
A former ranked squash player, Mark now competes with his sons on mountain bikes and tours Niagara wine country, systematically visiting all its wineries.

Widely acknowledged as a respected leader in the Alberta construction industry, Graeme is responsible for client liaison and technical coordination of the firm’s consulting services in Northern Alberta.
With more than 30 years of industry experience, he has special expertise in preparing research studies, designing costing system methodology, and providing Cost Planning and Cost Control on major projects.

Ross Templeton B.Sc. (Hons), MRICS, PQS
Ross is a team leader in our national Public-Private Partnerships (P3) Advisory and Cost Management groups, and has extensive experience in both Independent Certifier (IC) and Lenders’ Technical Advisor (LTA) roles.
Ross has implemented management strategies that have driven the firm’s growth and expanded specialist services to public and private sectors in the Canadian P3 market. In addition to work on major infrastructure projects in the UK and Australia, Ross has provided IC and LTA roles on major social infrastructure projects across Canada.
A golfer, snowboarder and soccer player who loves his adopted country, Ross is also a seasoned world traveler eager to add more stamps to his well-thumbed passport.

Eldon brings more than 20 years of experience in Cost Consulting and Construction Management to his role as leader of our Cost Management Group.
He has developed special expertise in estimating architectural, structural, and civil work for complex facilities in the health care, leisure, and education sectors.
Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, Eldon started his career in Hong Kong with one of Asia’s leading development firms and worked extensively in China and Australia before joining BTY Group in 1997.
A recreational badminton player and avid snorkeler, Eldon loves traveling when he’s not working or driving his kids between skating and skiing.

Michael Gabert CEC
Mike Gabert leads our Saskatoon office. A native of North Battleford, SK, Mike has nearly a decade of experience in estimating and quantity surveying and construction contracting in the Prairies.
He has worked extensively in the oilfield supply and services sector in Alberta and more recently in residential, commercial and industrial projects in Saskatchewan.
An avid downhill skier (not in Saskatchewan), hunter of deer and moose, and fisher of northern pike and walleye, Mike refuses to divulge the size of this largest catch for fear of embarrassment. He expects to be let outdoors again when his toddler son is old enough to take hunting.

A Chartered Surveyor with a decade of experience, Darren has worked on large, complex, new-build residential and commercial projects in the UK, Middle East and North America.
As part of our Toronto office’s Cost Management, Project Monitoring and Technical Advisory teams, Darren brings clients senior-level expertise in both pre- and post-contract construction services, from initial feasibility studies for clients to final account negotiation and agreements with contractors.
As well as being an avid golfer, Darren is a complete sports fan. He now spends most Saturday mornings watching English Premier League matches and trying to understand the finer point of North American sports.

Leslie Fowler PQS
Leslie is a team leader in our Project Monitoring and Cost Planning groups in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
In addition to providing expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM), she also helps coordinate BTY Group’s involvement in Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects in Alberta. Leslie has worked on diverse projects, including hospitals and commercial centres as well as residential and recreational developments.
While working in BC’s Okanagan region, she discovered that alternating rounds of golf with wine tasting tours can improve one’s palate, but not the scorecard.

A Senior Consultant of BTY Group, John oversees the firm’s Project Monitoring Group in providing Cost Control services for the financial sector on projects in Southern Alberta.
He has more than 25 years of experience in construction Cost Control, a subject on which he lectures at the University of Calgary and at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. This expertise has been particularly valuable in large, complex infrastructure projects, such as mining facilities, municipal wastewater treatment plants and major health care centres.
