BTY is pleased to announce the first in a series of leadership changes, marking a significant milestone in the second year of the firm’s ambitious Strategic Growth Plan.

These appointments strengthen BTY’s organizational structure, deepen its operational leadership, and reinforce the company’s commitment to growth and market leadership.

Toby Mallinder Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer

Toby Mallinder, who joined BTY in 1993 and has served in progressive leadership roles for over three decades, has been appointed BTY’s President and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Toby will continue to define BTY’s long-term vision and lead the execution of its Strategic Growth Plan. He will shape global business strategy, drive mergers and acquisitions, and advance the firm’s ownership expansion to support sustained value creation and a strong leadership succession pipeline.

Rob Wilson Named Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer

Rob Wilson, a senior executive spearheading BTY’s evolution into a multi‑region, multi‑service consultancy, has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer.

Since joining BTY in 2014, Rob has driven significant growth in the firm’s advisory and risk management services, expanding its market share across real estate, commercial, industrial, and major mixed-use developments. His leadership has strengthened BTY’s partnerships with developers, institutional investors, and lenders, reinforcing the firm’s position as a trusted multidisciplinary advisor.

Rob has been instrumental in expanding BTY’s footprint across Canada and the United States, while supporting entry into new markets in North America and Europe. In his new role, he will lead the continued evolution of BTY’s operations, advancing integrated service delivery, strengthening client-centric solutions, and enhancing the firm’s talent and technology platforms to support its expanding global presence.

Gord Smith to Retire Marking 25 Years with BTY

As part of these leadership changes, long-time firm leader Gord Smith will be stepping down from his operational and ownership roles as he begins his next chapter, while completing his term on the firm’s board in 2026. Gord joined BTY as a Partner in 2002 and served as a member of the Executive Team, including a tenure as Operations Director, playing an instrumental role in establishing BTY as an industry leader in infrastructure services.

He will continue to contribute his expertise as a Senior Advisor, supporting key project engagements and the ongoing growth of BTY’s Infrastructure Advisory practice. We are grateful for his leadership and contributions, which have helped shape BTY’s trajectory and will continue to influence the firm’s success for years to come.
