Jin Chen is a Senior Advisor on BTY’s Renewable Energy Services team and an expert in utility-scale project development, offtake strategy, and Power Purchase Agreements.
Jin has executed numerous Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (vPPAs), guiding major wind and solar projects from concept to contract. His diverse background includes roles at a renewable project development firm, multiple independent power producers (IPPs), and a Renewable Energy Certificate trading desk, experience that he now leverages to help BTY’s clients navigate complex energy deals with confidence.
Jin’s areas of expertise span PPAs and vPPAs, in-depth renewable project due diligence, strategic contract negotiations, and risk allocation for large-scale renewable projects. He has closed multiple 10-year Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) transactions for utility-scale solar farms in the ERCOT market. In addition, Jin has supported 15-year PPA negotiations for major solar and wind projects in the PJM and SPP North markets, and has guided developers through successful RFP processes with utilities.
