The Sen̓áḵw Redevelopment, by the Squamish Nation that is located in Vancouver is the largest real estate partnership between a First Nation and a private Developer in Canadian history.
The project is also Canada’s first large-scale net zero operational carbon housing development – and one of only a few in the world.
With over 6,000 units across 11 new towers, the massive multi-phase community will provide much-needed rental accommodation to help meet increasing demand across the city. The new development will fill the 10-acre L-shaped parcel of land and features:
• The utilization of a district energy system for energy efficient heating and cooling
• 45,000 sf of mass timber construction, resulting in 50% less carbon emissions than concrete
• Landmark Coast Salish architecture & design for a lasting cultural legacy for the Squamish First Nation
BTY is serving as the Project Monitors on this massive redevelopment, a joint venture with the Squamish Nation, through their economic development arm, Nch’kay, with Westbank that will transform the Kitsilano neighbourhood in Vancouver.
