Let's Talk

The Irish government has set an ambitious housing target to deliver new homes between 2025 and 2030.

This plan aims to address supply shortages as demand in major cities such as Dublin continue to rise.

Total New Homes: 303,000 homes between 2025 and 2030.

Annual Target: Approximately 50,500 homes each year.

Focus Areas: Social housing, affordable homes, and private sector development.

Meeting these targets is essential to provide secure, affordable housing for Ireland’s growing population as well as stabilise the housing market and reduce homelessness. Previously, the Housing for All mandate set an average of 33,000 homes per annum until 2030, and a recent Central Bank Report estimated the need to be between 52,000 and 67,000 homes per annum.

In June 2024, Ireland’s National Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) rose 8.6% year-over-year, with costs in Dublin alone surging 9.3%. Coupled with Ireland’s growing population, which increased by 98,700 people as of April 2024, these factors have put significant pressure on the local housing market.
